Farmers and firms ramp up to expand stevia plantings

If delta-area farmer Chip Morris has his way, California could become the stevia production capital of the world. The leafy row crop is used as a natural sweetener with compounds that can be 300 to 400 times sweeter than an equal weight of sugar, yet stevia has zero calories.
