New almond-growing locations generate interest

California is considered one of the few places in the world with an ideal almond-growing climate, thanks to mild winters and abundant sunshine. But the business climate isn't as optimal, due to challenges such as additional government regulations, higher costs and water shortages. That has led to greater interest in growing almonds outside the Golden State, including a commercial planting in Arizona and long-term test plots in Idaho.
