AITC seeks entries for writing contest
The California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom is now accepting submissions for the 2017 "Imagine this…" story-writing contest.
Educators of third through eighth grades may enter their students' work for a chance win awards that include publication in a book, a medal, an electronic reader and an all-expenses-paid trip to Sacramento for the awards ceremony next March.
As one of the longest-running programs administered by CFAITC, the "Imagine this..." writing contest is aimed at raising increased awareness and understanding of agriculture among California educators and students. For more than 20 years, students have explored numerous agricultural themes to craft their narrative stories.
"Agriculture is everywhere—from the food we eat to the clothes we wear. Agriculture is a part of our life every day," said CFAITC Director Judy Culbertson. "Not only is it important to teach about agriculture; it's essential."
Stories are judged and awarded regionally. Six statewide winners are chosen. High school art students in Northern California illustrate the state-winning stories.
Deadline for submissions is Nov. 1. Teachers may enter five stories from each class. For more information, visit LearnAboutAg.org/imaginethis, call 916-561-5625 or email info@LearnAboutAg.org.
