In my current job as a vineyard tractor driver, I have the opportunity to work up to 60 hours a week during the growing and harvest season when work is available.

This law would affect me because I am responsible for providing for my wife and two children. I do not want to lose my hours or workdays. If my hours were to change, it would reduce our income and hurt our family.

If I were limited to 40 hours a week, it would cut one-third of my pay. At this time, my wife is able to stay at home to raise our young children. If this law passes, she would most likely have to find a job and child care, or I would have to look for a second job in order to pay the bills.

En mi trabajo actual como conductor de tractores en el viñedo, tengo la oportunidad de trabajar hasta 60 horas por semana durante el cultivo y la cosecha de la temporada cuando el trabajo está disponible.

Esta ley me afecta, porque yo soy responsable del sustento de mi esposa y dos hijos. No quiero perder mis horas o días de trabajo. Si mis horas fuesen a cambiar, reducirán nuestros ingresos y dañara el bien estar de nuestra familia.

Si yo fuese limitado a 40 horas por semana, recortará un tercio de mi sueldo. En este momento, mi esposa puede quedarse en casa para criar a nuestros hijos pequeños. I have worked for the same family farm for 30 years. I began in the field and now am a mechanic, working on vineyard and orchard equipment.

I work hard to provide a good life for my wife and three daughters. Two of my daughters have been able to attend college. I have been able to provide for the medical needs of my youngest daughter.

This law does not affect just me, but our crews and our bosses too. It would make a big difference for everyone if our workweek was 40 hours instead of 60 hours. I do not see how they could pay overtime after 40 hours.

We already are paid overtime during grape harvest and other busy times of the year. During the slow season, we are able to work in the shop. If the law changes, I do not believe that we would get the chance to work those extra hours other times of the year. I feel that this law is bad for everyone.

Yo he trabajado para la misma familia de granjeros durante 30 años. Empecé en el campo y ahora soy un mecánico, trabajando en el equipo del viñedo y del huerto.

Yo trabajo duro para proveer una buena vida a mi esposa y tres hijas. Dos de mis hijas han podido estudiar en la universidad. He sido capaz de proveer para las necesidades médicas de mi hija menor.
