Deadlines near for various YF&R contests 

For young agriculturalists between the ages of 18 and 35, applications are due Aug. 31 for the California Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers Excellence in Agriculture Award and the Achievement in Agriculture Award. 

The Excellence Award is presented to young agricultural professionals who contribute through involvement in agriculture, leadership activities and Farm Bureau. The Achievement Award recognizes accomplishments in production agriculture and leadership activity.

Applications are also due Oct. 31 for the YF&R Discussion Meet, a contest meant to stimulate a committee meeting. Discussion Meet participants are challenged to demonstrate their ability to exchange ideas and offer detailed opinions on important issues.
