Comments on pest report end July 25

The California Department of Food and Agriculture said it will continue to accept comments until July 25, regarding the scope and content of a draft programmatic environmental impact report that will focus on response to invasive plant pests and diseases.

Original information from the department indicated comments would close July 19, but a CDFA spokesman said the comment period will remain open until July 25.

CDFA said the programmatic environmental impact report, or PEIR, will help it speed response to new introductions of plant pests and diseases.

Five public scoping meetings have been held this month to accept comments.

To submit comments, send to California Department of Food and Agriculture; Attn: Michele Dias, acting chief counsel; 1220 N St., Suite 400; Sacramento, CA 95814. Comments may be sent via email to PEIR.info@cdfa.ca.gov. The department requested that commenters include their name, address and phone number.
