Ag education programs get nearly $250,000 in funding


The California Department of Food and Agriculture has awarded $247,956 to enhance agricultural education and leadership opportunities under the 2022 California Special Interest License Plate grant program.

The grant awards include $210,000 to the California Association of the Future Farmers of America. FFA has 355 chapters in California for nearly 100,000 students.

The San Joaquin County Foundation for Agricultural Education received $10,000 for agriculture and nutrition field days for some 10,000 third-grade students.

The California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom was awarded $8,870 to offer a new pre-kindergarten program focusing on farm life.
