Viewers of San Francisco's KBHK, UPN Channel 44/Cable 12 will now be able to travel throughout the state of California without ever having to leave their houses. California Country, a half-hour television program produced by the California Farm Bureau Federation, is now airing on the UPN affiliate, Saturdays at 10 a.m.

California Country regularly features stories about California's farmers and ranchers and people in closely related industries. Regular segments include tips on produce selection and preparation, gardening and landscaping, rural travel destinations, cooking and interesting food facts.

Host Jim Morris and producer Scott Monaco lead the California Country team that includes co-host Heidi Lish; produce specialist Andy Powning of San Francisco's GreenLeaf Produce; recipes from some of the top chefs in the West; David Ross, a horticulturist from the Walter Anderson Nursery in San Diego; and feature reporters Sandra Furlong, Tracy Sellers and Jennifer Harrison.

"We're excited about serving the Bay Area market on KBHK. Each week we try to capture California's agricultural diversity of crops, cultures and people. Our goal is to entertain, educate and inspire the public by making agriculture relevant to their everyday lives," said host Jim Morris. "Our tools are useful information, recipes and interesting profiles of the people behind the food."

California Country can be seen on nearly 200 commercial, cable and public stations, making it available to an estimated 10 million homes. The show is also broadcast nationwide via satellite.

California Country is sponsored by the California Farm Bureau, Nationwide Health Plans and Allied Insurance.
