Legislative committee hears of danger facing citrus

The battle to control the spread of Asian citrus psyllids, gnat-like insects that can spread a deadly citrus disease, is intensifying and drawing the focus of state legislators. Scientists, political leaders, state and federal officials, and agricultural experts testified last week in Sacramento during an informational hearing of the state Senate Agriculture Committee.
