Winter water provides needed groundwater source

Yellow leaves on his winegrape vines concerned Fresno County farmer Don Cameron one spring a few years ago, as he was experimenting with on-farm groundwater recharge and flooding his vineyard. By June, water he used to flood his vineyard had percolated into the soil and the leaves turned a more normal, dark green color. The 22-year-old barbera vines did just fine that year, Cameron reported.
