Decision on net metering benefits renewable energy

In a decision welcomed by agricultural representatives, the California Public Utilities Commission has voted to reject plans by utilities to alter a state net-energy-metering program. The commission agreed instead to extend the existing program for renewable-energy customers, such as those who offset energy use by producing solar power.
