Grape acreage inches up statewide

Grape acreage in California totaled 878,000 acres in 2013, up about 3.7 percent compared to 2012, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported last week. Of the state's total grape acreage, 820,000 were bearing while 58,000 were non-bearing; the majority of non-bearing vines were wine varietals.
