Breeders seek ‘holy grail’ of grape rootstock research

Consumers can taste the variation in the salt levels of chardonnay and shiraz wines made from grapes grown on different rootstocks, even if the vines are grown in the same ground and climate, and irrigated, pruned and fertilized to the same specifications.
