Weedy rice is difficult to identify from regular rice

While growers and researchers vigilantly monitor weedy rice, the pesky plant that looks almost exactly like the real thing until the grains shatter at harvest or before, the weed continues to creep into more fields throughout the Sacramento and northern San Joaquin valleys.
